Paul Dufrane (1922 – 1999) was a Belgian surrealist painter and collagist. He received his education at Sint-Lucas and at the Academy in Brussels. Initially debuting in non-figurative art, he soon gravitated towards surrealism and eventually transitioned into figuration. His compositions exude symbolism and poetry. As an artist, he stands as a prime example of “fantasmagie,” a pseudo-surrealist movement that emerged on the fringes of surrealism in Belgium in 1958 and is also referred to as the “fantastic” movement.
Later, he became a member of the Coll’Art artists’ group, which brought together various collage artists. Between 1971 and 1973, they organized several exhibitions in Belgium.
In terms of both theme and color utilization, this piece stands somewhat apart from Dufrane’s body of work, yet remains particularly intriguing.

Please keep in mind that in many cases we sell vintage and antique pieces. None of these pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition.
All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.

The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
